The New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association (NEAPWA) is now accepting nominations for State Director positions with terms beginning in the 2027 administrative year.

As part of the Chapter’s recently adopted bylaws, NEAPWA has implemented a formal nomination and election process to ensure a transparent and inclusive approach to board leadership. We encourage qualified members who are passionate about advancing public works throughout New England to consider serving in a leadership role.

Who May Be Nominated?

Any eligible NEAPWA member in good standing may:

  • Self-nominate for election as a State Director, or
  • Nominate another eligible member for consideration.

Current State Directors whose terms expire in December 2026 and who wish to serve an additional two-year term must submit a self-nomination to be considered for re-election.

How to Submit a Nomination

Please email your nomination to:

Lisa Schaeffler – vmesfd2023@gmail.com
Chair, Nominating Committee
Immediate Past President, NEAPWA

Nominations must be received no later than July 31, 2026 at 4pm EST.

For self-nominations, members are encouraged to include:

  • Chapter committees, programs, or initiatives they have participated in during their current term or membership.
  • Committees, leadership opportunities, or areas of interest they would like to support in the future.

About the Selection Process

The Nominating Committee will review all nominations and evaluate candidates in accordance with the Chapter bylaws. For incumbent State Directors seeking another term, considerations include attendance and participation at board meetings, involvement in Chapter committees and initiatives, overall contributions to the Chapter, and compliance with APWA policies.

The Committee’s recommendations will be presented to the Executive Committee and shared with voting members in advance of the election process.

Serving on the NEAPWA Board is an opportunity to help shape the future of public works across New England while supporting professional development, advocacy, and industry collaboration throughout the region.

We encourage interested members to submit their nominations and become part of the Chapter’s next generation of leadership.

Nomination Deadline: July 31, 2026 – 4pm EST
