Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior GIS Analyst, the GIS Support Technician is responsible for maintaining and updating critical water and sewer infrastructure data within the Department of Public Works’ Geographic Information System (GIS). This position plays an important role in supporting the management and operation of the City’s utility infrastructure through accurate data maintenance, mapping, and spatial analysis.
Working within a versioned geodatabase environment using Esri ArcGIS Pro, the GIS Support Technician edits and maintains water and sewer system data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information used by the Water Operations and Sewer Operations divisions. The position collaborates closely with the Senior GIS Analyst and the Department of Innovation and Technology to support departmental initiatives and GIS-related projects.
Key responsibilities include generating maps, reports, and other GIS products, analyzing georeferenced plans and engineering documents, and reviewing, updating, and validating infrastructure data. The successful candidate will help ensure that the City’s GIS resources remain current and effective for planning, operations, maintenance, and decision-making purposes.
