Position Summary
Under the direction of the Stormwater and Wastewater Coordinator, the Environmental Analyst is an entry-level position focused on protecting water quality and supporting the City’s stormwater and wastewater programs. This role combines fieldwork, data analysis, regulatory support, and public outreach to help ensure the effective management of Worcester’s water resources and infrastructure.
The Environmental Analyst conducts a variety of field investigations and environmental monitoring activities, including the collection of surface water and soil samples for laboratory analysis, testing stormwater outfalls using portable field equipment, and inspecting sewer infrastructure to identify structural deficiencies and potential sources of pollution.
The position is also responsible for reviewing water quality data, analyzing CCTV inspections of sewer and drainage systems, investigating sewer-related issues, maintaining environmental records, and entering field and laboratory results into departmental databases. In addition, the Environmental Analyst responds to customer inquiries and assists in resolving concerns related to stormwater, wastewater, and environmental compliance.
