The Town of Falmouth is seeking an experienced and dynamic public works leader to serve as its next Highway Superintendent, a key management position within the Department of Public Works.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Highway Superintendent provides strategic, administrative, operational, and field leadership for the Town’s Highway Division. This position oversees a broad range of municipal services, including roadway maintenance and construction, drainage infrastructure, residential solid waste collection, operation of the Waste Management Facility, seasonal beach maintenance activities, snow and ice control operations, and management of the Woods Hole Drawbridge tender operations.

The Highway Superintendent leads a diverse workforce of more than 30 full-time employees and is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of essential public services that support residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the community.

Key responsibilities include long-range planning, budget administration, workforce development, operational oversight, emergency response coordination, and continuous improvement of division operations. The successful candidate will foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, customer service, innovation, and operational excellence while working collaboratively with Town departments, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
