Stephen Sopelak serves as the Director of Public Works & Community Development Services and Town Engineer for the Town of Rocky Hill, CT.  He oversees the planning, design, and maintenance of the town’s infrastructure. With over 35 years in the industry and 25 years in municipal engineering, Steve leads a department responsible for ensuring high-quality residential and commercial development while maintaining roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and bridges. His department provides technical expertise and administrative support to various boards and committees, including Planning & Zoning, Wetlands and Capital Improvement. Under his leadership, the department's divisions—Public Works, Engineering, Building, Wetlands and Planning & Zoning—work collaboratively to guide projects from design to construction. Steve also serves as a Connecticut Director on the New England Chapter of APWA’s Board of Directors, contributing to regional public works initiatives. His dedication to infrastructure development and community growth continues to shape Rocky Hill’s future.
