Robert Dexter brings a lifetime of hands-on experience and leadership in public works to the New England Chapter of APWA. His roots in the field began early, working in his family’s oil business and apple orchards, supporting local highway operations with leased trucks and equipment. He later served as a volunteer EMT and firefighter, eventually becoming captain in both roles. Robert worked with Scituate Public Works before serving on the town’s Planning Board, Conservation Commission, and as a Town Councilman for 12 years. He co-owned Dexter Bros Inc., expanding it into a successful HVAC and environmental services company. After selling the business, Robert became Scituate’s Public Works Director, where he championed pavement preservation and infrastructure improvements. Following retirement, he joined Felix A. Marino Co. as a regional consultant, sharing his expertise in innovative pavement solutions. Robert also served as Secretary of the Rhode Island Public Works Association and remains an active contributor.
